Founded in 2020, PT Tartaruga Food Indonesia was established to explore seaweed’s potential as a source of nutritious food. The company takes its name from the word “Tartaruga”, meaning turtle in Italian and Portuguese, reflecting its values of steady progress and long-term vision. This philosophy guides the company's focus on developing seaweed-based innovations that respond to both local and global food industries.

The company’s first product, Tartaruga Mini Sheet Crispy Seaweed, is a ready-to-eat snack rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. While the company currently uses imported Porphyra seaweed, it is actively researching the potential of local tropical varieties like Ulva sp. to strengthen domestic sourcing and reduce reliance on imports.
